Biography 

 

Ph.D. Degree in Industrial Chemistry (max. cum laude) in 1963: Sessa Award and Medal for the best Thesis in Chemistry of the year. CNR (National Council of Research) employee from 1963 to 1980. Visiting professor (Associate) in 1972-73 at the College of Arts and Sciences of Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill., USA. Full Professor in Heterocyclic Chemistry (1980) at Milan University. Chairman of the Chemistry Course (1988-1992). Full Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Milano-Bicocca (1994). Member of the Founding Committee (1994-95) and Chairman of the Material Science Course (1997-2000) Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry till 2004. Member of the Advisory Board of the Journal of Physical Organic Chemistry (1995-2000). IUPAC National Representative (Commission on Physical Organic Chemistry).

Award of the Italian Chemical Society (Organic Division) for Mechanistic and Theoretical Aspects of Organic Chemistry (2002).

Author or co-author of ca 200 papers, many of which related to Organic Materials. Author with A. Abbotto of the textbook "Heterocyclic Chemistry" (in Italian), Piccin Pub. Padova, 1995.
