2nd International Workshop on Hexagonal SiGe and related materials

Description: Digital communication is one of the distinguishing features of contemporary society and this is testified by the exponential increase in data traffic. This trend has an enormous impact not only on our society but also on our planet. In fact, greater connectivity drives an increasing demand for data centre services and energy use, thus highlighting the need for high-speed, low-cost, and green data processing and interconnections. Hexagonal Ge is a good candidate to realize new device in line of this need due to its peculiar electronic properties, such as efficient light emission (by on-chip laser or LEDs).
Recently, several research groups focused their attention in the realization of hexagonal  germanium crystals. Once a year these researchers meet to exchange ideas, share their efforts and discuss problems. The Workshop has both individual oral contributions and common discussions. We gladly announce that the 2024 Workshop will take place in our University in April.
