Mr. Mohsin Muhyuddin, 3rd year PhD student at the University of Milano Bicocca, was awarded the prestigious Oronzio and Niccolò De Nora Foundation Young Author Prize of the International Society of Electrochemistry (ISE). This Prize is awarded annually to a young scientist under 30 years of age in recognition of their recent achievements in the field of electrochemistry. In particular, in this case, the Curriculum Vitae is evaluated and a paper published in the year before on Electrochimica Acta (Journal of the Society) is evaluated. Mr. Mohsin paper “M. Muhyuddin, D. Testa, R. Lorenzi, G. M. Vanacore, F. Poli, F. Soavi, S. Specchia, W. Giurlani, M. Innocenti, L. Rosi, C. Santoro. Iron-based Electrocatalysts Derived from Scrap Tires for Oxygen Reduction Reaction: Evolution of Synthesis-Structure-Performance Relationship in Acidic, Neutral and Alkaline Media. Electrochimica Acta 2022, 433, 141254” studies the valorization of waste tires into valuable char that is further functionalized producing efficient platinum group metal-free electrocatalysts for fuel cells applications.

Mohsin is now part of the Electrocatalysis and Bioelectrocatalysis Laboratory (EBLab) with supervisor Dr. Carlo Santoro.
