Roberto Nisticò appointed IUPAC Young Observer

Dr. Roberto Nisticò, Researcher in General and Inorganic Chemistry at the Department of Materials Science of the University of Milano-Bicocca has been appointed International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry Young Observer (IUPAC YO) representing Italy for the two-year period 2024-2025 by the Italian Evaluation Commission.

This role is intended for researchers preferably under the age of 35 and in any case not older than 40 years old working in Italy, coming from academia, research institutions and industry. IUPAC YO will have the opportunity to access and contribute to IUPAC activities, participating at the Divisions and Commissions activities for the given two-year period.

Founded in 1919 with the aim of promoting exchanges between Chemists from all over the world, also through the creation of a common and standardized language, IUPAC is the world authority for the nomenclature of chemical compounds and the definition of chemical and chemical-physical quantities. IUPAC is also an important international, non-governmental and impartial scientific organization, committed to provide objective scientific expertise and developing the essential tools for the application and communication of chemical knowledge for the benefit of both humankind and the world, with great attention to sustainable development, young people and inclusiveness. As a whole, 58 nations adhere to IUPAC, including Italy, which is one of the 5 founding countries.
