Starting from the 2025/2026 academic year, the University of Milano-Bicocca will participate in the International Physicists' Tournament (IPT).

How does the IPT work?

The tournament, opened to students of the Bachelor and Master Degree Courses in Materials Science and Nanotechnology and Physics, consists of an initial phase in which students must solve scientific problems with the support of university lecturers and tutors, followed by a final phase in which students from different universities and countries compete against each other to solve these problems. The problems are real research questions, which the participants will have to solve through simulations or small experiments. In the  “Problems” section at https://iptnet.info/, examples of problems from previous editions are reported.

What do you need to do?

Register on the e-Learning page (https://elearning.unimib.it/course/view.php?id=64629) and fill in the Google Form with the declaration of interest by 25 September 2025. On the e-Learning page the list of problems for the edition 2026 can be found.

Timing and commitment required?

The team composed of the six best students will compete in the National selection that will take place at the Politecnico di Milano in early December 2025. Therefore, an indicative commitment is required for the period September-December 2025, and in particular approximately 10 hours/week for undergraduate and/or master's students.
