Abstract. The publication and dissemination of research findings remains at the heart of personal academic impact and the impact that any research has in advancing science. In this talk I will provide a brief overview on how authors, particularly early career researchers, can maximise their chances of getting published in the best journal for their work and hence maximising its impact, and I will discuss the role of scientific editors and publishers in this process.
