Titolo: Scintillation detectors in Industrial applications: A practical approach

Abstract. Scintillation detectors are used on a broad scale in a great variety of industrial applications and processes ranging from simple densitometry to more complex spectroscopic analysis in, for example, online elemental analysers. Each applications poses its specific requirements on the type of scintillator and sensor. In this seminar, an overview is presented  of  the  current  use  of  scintillators  in  typical  industrial  (non-scientific)  applications.  We  will  present  some typical properties of commercially available “industrial” scintillation materials with their key performance indicators. Furthermore, we will discuss how far the use of “novel” scintillators has actually progressed into industrial applications and what the current needs are with respect to materials and light detectors. The important question “what is next” will be addressed with respect to scintillation materials and how the search for new materials is driven these days
